Round 2! Mingling post! GO.

We'll be keeping this informal since I doubt the majority of people are ready to commit right this second.

This is a completely optional post for writers to toss up their possible ideas for this round so potential media creators can hop in and help the process along. People can also cheer on ideas that they would love to read, even if they don't feel they'd be able to create anything for it at this time.

Character(s)/Pairing(s): Reeve Tuesti/Rufus Shinra, Aerith, Sephiroth, and maybe Zack?
Vague story idea: AU fic set when the Cetra were at their peak of power. I think I'll go with there being divisions in the classes based on powers and abilities. Cetra at the top, since they don't need materia, then perhaps the Thaumaturge (to describe the 'created' materia wielders, awakened naturally or via Cetra powers), then the normal humans, the ones incapable of wielding magic even with materia, and finally, the Mako-Infused Thaumaturge, such as SOLDIERs. I particularly like the idea of Rufus leading a rebellion against the Cetra, against Ifalna, Aerith, and Reeve. Maybe some divisions within the Cetra themselves, such as Aerith and Ifalna being 'Guardian' Cetra, since their power is to hear the planet and Reeve being an 'Inspire' Cetra with the power to hear the inorganic?

Most of this AU has been heavily inspired by the Early Files, and I compiled all of the particularly relevant ones here in my own journal. To be honest though, while I have a whole lot of ideas for the setting of my AU, I really don't have much of a plot yet. Not beyond some vague ideas of human-rebel!Rufus and Inspire-Cetra!Reeve. And loyal-servant!Tseng. ^^;

No problem! I stumbled across them a few days ago, and I thought that they were simply far too fascinating to not share the link. Especially since I'm writing my Hardmode based on some of the information there.

The weirdest thing for me out of the Early Files? Jenova referring to a part of the brain instead of an actual being. Everyone has a Jenova; it's just not always awake.

This... this is actually one that Reno massively derailed. I wrote about 500 words of this original outline, and as I reread it, it was like Reno was sitting on my shoulder going, "Eh, wouldn't it be neat to write this in the game time period? Ooh! Me, under the Plate! Being recruited, yo! It'll be fun and quick, I promise, yeah?"

... That was 12k ago. >.> I actually posted the first 1.5k or so on my journal before everything went insane and I dropped off of the face of the internet for a while. I need to update my comment here since the scope of my fic has changed so much. ^^;

Updated Story Progress (as of May 14)

Vague story idea: Well, it's still an Early Files AU, but instead of following when the Cetra were at the peak of their power, I'm going with writing it set just a few years pre-game. A lot of canon has been tossed out the window (being an AU), and even more canon has been shuffled around to suit the story. I have a good stopping point now (around 15k), but I am continuing to write on it, so... we'll see where I am on June 1st? ^^;

Right this minute, the story follows Reno's recruitment into the Turks and his first few hours with Rude and Tseng. Provided I manage to make better time than I did last year, I plan on the plot continuing with the uncovering of certain secrets of the executives that might have been better left hidden. (Yeah, because that's not vague enough, is it? Essentially, there's a lot in the loose outline about Reeve and his Inspire abilities.)
