Round 2! Mingling post! GO.

We'll be keeping this informal since I doubt the majority of people are ready to commit right this second.

This is a completely optional post for writers to toss up their possible ideas for this round so potential media creators can hop in and help the process along. People can also cheer on ideas that they would love to read, even if they don't feel they'd be able to create anything for it at this time.

Writers, simply follow this format when posting so everything can look nice and neat:

Fandom(s):
Character(s)/Pairing(s):
Vague story idea:

Later on in the writing period there will be a post for media creator's to make 'early claims' if they commented to this post and the writer has officially signed up. That will be...much later on most likely and I'll try to include more details before then. We'll see how everything works out before we set any ideas in stone just yet.

Commence with the experiment mingling!

Fandom(s): Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Shoji and Haru mainly, though I'm sure Gin will play some kind of role and others will make cameos at least
Vague story idea: Something post-game (Haru/Gin ending path) focusing on Haru and Shoji, who both have a lingering interest in demons and the reasons behind the loss of their respective mentors.

Fandom(s): Final Fantasy VII
Character: Cloud Strife
Vague story idea: Cloud Strife, his journey from Nibelheim to Midgar, his attempts to get into SOLDIER, possibly exploring why he couldn't get in and how he ended up in the Shinra infantry instead. Perhaps he joined because some SOLDIER recruits were in the infantry first.

Fandom(s): Final Fantasy VII.
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Reeve Tuesti/Rufus Shinra, Aerith, Sephiroth, and maybe Zack?
Vague story idea: AU fic set when the Cetra were at their peak of power. I think I'll go with there being divisions in the classes based on powers and abilities. Cetra at the top, since they don't need materia, then perhaps the Thaumaturge (to describe the 'created' materia wielders, awakened naturally or via Cetra powers), then the normal humans, the ones incapable of wielding magic even with materia, and finally, the Mako-Infused Thaumaturge, such as SOLDIERs. I particularly like the idea of Rufus leading a rebellion against the Cetra, against Ifalna, Aerith, and Reeve. Maybe some divisions within the Cetra themselves, such as Aerith and Ifalna being 'Guardian' Cetra, since their power is to hear the planet and Reeve being an 'Inspire' Cetra with the power to hear the inorganic?

Most of this AU has been heavily inspired by the Early Files, and I compiled all of the particularly relevant ones here in my own journal. To be honest though, while I have a whole lot of ideas for the setting of my AU, I really don't have much of a plot yet. Not beyond some vague ideas of human-rebel!Rufus and Inspire-Cetra!Reeve. And loyal-servant!Tseng. ^^;

Fandom(s): Assassin's Creed II
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Ezio, Leonardo, Cristina, the Auditores
Vague story idea: A What if AU, where Ezio's family is saved from hanging at the last moment. The differences that not having a driving need for revenge will cause for Ezio and his family, as well as what happens to the various relationships that he develops over time.

Probably going to involve a threesome romance.

Fandom(s): Baldur's Gate I
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Branwen.
Vague story idea: Who says the Bhaalspawn's point of view is the interesting one? Branwen, priestess of Tempus, has backstory and a fate to seek out and possibly even an evil Zhentish plot to deal with.
tyger: Sora's fist-in-the-air sprite from Re:coded. Text: Hell yeah! (Sora - hell yeah!)

Fandom(s): Kingdom Hearts! (I am also willing to write FFXIII or LoZ gen!)
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Um. I tend to write Axel/Roxas, mostly? But also I have written other things. And am willing to write other things.
Vague story idea: OKAY SO HERE'S HOW IT IS. I have written a gen Sora-centric psychological adventure story, that I am planning to submit for [community profile] hardmode, because I am knee-deep in thesis research and so fic ideas are not so much in my head as much as they usually. But! I like this idea of media creators being more involved, so if you, a media creator, has a KH(/FFXIII/LoZ) idea that you'd like to create media for, I'm willing to do the writing part. I tend to write pretty quickly once I have an idea, so I'm not worried about getting the wordcount even despite thesis, it's really more the ideas thing. (But hey. Who knows, always possible that I'll come up with something that eats my brain, but given past records, that's not as likely when I'm studying. Attempting to be responsible here, as well as take part in awesome fandom activities!)

TL;DR - if you have something you want to see, I'm totally up for negotiation! :D
For reference, as it likely makes a difference: Stuff I have written.

Fandom: Final Fantasy IV

Characters: Edward- and Rydia-centric because I am nothing if not completely predictable. Most of the rest of the cast. Golbez. Archfiends. Eidolons, especially Ifrit. The Dark Elf. Despite my stated shipping preferences I don't think Edward/Rydia actually works for this fic. Canon pairings only so far, but I can't promise that Barbariccia won't get her claws into somebody by the end of the fic.

Vague story idea: SO I HAD THIS IDEA for an FF4 AU where Leviathan swallows both Edward and Rydia when he crashes the party's ship. Edward's presence is very obviously a mistake; while Rydia is training to become a real-deal summoner, Edward deals with being stranded in an alien world that views him as an interloper at best. Rydia walks the line between human and monster, Edward learns the music of the Feymarch, years pass, etc.

MEANWHILE, up on the surface, things progress pretty much as in the game until Cecil's deal with Golbez and the encounter with the Dark Elf. Not having Edward around results in a total failure to recover the Earth Crystal. Catastrophe ensues, and even the return of older and wiser Edward and Rydia might not be enough to stop it.

I am not sure how long this will end up being, so uh.

Fandom(s): Final Fantasy X-2.
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Gippal, Baralai, Paine, Nooj. Gen.
Vague story idea: Crimson Squad cyberpunk AU! As previously discussed, this story was written for the last round, but due to a lack of accompanying media, never got posted. I don't know if I'm writing anything new for this round, but I will definitely be posting this story, titled "Iron Sky".

I can offer a little snippet of the beginning of this story, which might tell you more about it than me rambling on:

Kinoc, Gippal has decided, is a windbag. He's a man (if barely old enough to claim that status) prone to making snap judgements but, as it happens, he's had ample time to consider, and then reconsider, this particular judgement -- and then drag it out again for a third hearing. It's been, according to the readout somewhere in the left hand corner of his vision, twenty minutes already. It feels like twice that. The Yevonites seem used to this kind of thing, but the Al Bhed in the ranks have been restless for a while now. The Al Bhed way is much more efficient: broadcast something, digest it at speed, store it for when it's needed, quite without burdening the normal (and limited) human capacity for short-term memory with it.

Gippal's gonna have to get used to this kind of thing, of course. The rest of his team, whoever they are, won't be up to the Al Bhed way of doing things for years, if ever. That's what they need him for.

Fandom(s): World of Warcraft
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Blood elf death knight original character, Solivar, and a cast of thousands both OCs and NPCs from the game.
Vague story idea: Figuring out who you were and what to do with the rest of your life is hard. Particularly when you're not really alive. Beginning can be found here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/76379

Fandom(s): World of Warcraft
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Original Characters Krivulka Stonefist (badass orcish granny warrior), Catlali Mooncaller (troll shaman), Keldris Pellegrin (human paladin), and the cast of thousands that is Light's Promise Mobile Hospital, a division of the Argent Dawn/Crusade.
Vague story idea: In the aftermath of the Scourge assault on Orgrimmar (during Wrath), Light's Promise tries to rebuild itself -- and rescue their resident paladin from the spiritual peril he finds himself in while walking the roads between life and death. Beginning can be found here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/134086

Fandom(s): World of Warcraft
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Darion Mograine and Taelan Fordring
Vague story idea: The younger son of one of the most eminent paladins of the age and the only son of a fallen traitor, each is isolated in his own way when they come to the capital of Lordaeron to train in their fathers' craft. The friendship they find becomes a balm to them both...but can it persist in the face of both secular and sacred politics, the changing face of the world and their feelings for one another?

Fandom(s): Final Fantasy 7

Character(s)/Pairing(s): Rufus/Tseng/Tifa. (no you didn't just misread that)

Vague story idea: Many many moons ago, my ex-girlfriend and I came up with an AU to the novel-length FF7 story I have been working on since 1998 (that is still not finished, ugh) in which Tseng manages to get Rufus (investigating the Nibelheim incident from Shinra's end) and Tifa (witness to the Nibelheim incident, maneuvering herself so she will be able to figure out wtf really went on) in the same room at the same time and says "now talk amongst yourselves". It winds up kicking the game events off about five years earlier, and turning your final party into: Tifa, Rufus, Tseng, Reno, Rude, Reeve, Aeris, Cloud and Vincent from the Nibelheim mansion's basement, and possibly Cid. Against old man Shinra, Hojo, Sephiroth (kinda), and Jenova.

I am not officially signing up yet, because I'm nearly 30k words in to it and I have only gotten to two scenes, and I'm guessing the whole thing is going to hit around 300k when I'm done. I am going to hope I can find a reasonable stopping point somewhere before the deadline. :P

Also, I should note that I am only working with canon from the original game, period, since it's an AU of a story that I started in '98 when that was all we had. So, nothing from the rest of the Compilation.

Character/Pairing: Ensemble; not explicitly working toward any pairings, but who knows, THE NIGHT IS YOUNG.
Vague story idea: The dreaded FF6 high-school AU idea that just won't die -- including Setzer with a sweet-ass convertible, Edgar as student council president, Locke the urban explorer, and Terra as the transfer student. I plan to start off lighthearted and generic, and end with a BANG.

It all falls out from the thought that the Seventh Heaven, before Tifa wound up in Midgar, was owned by a fairly popular former Shinra middle manager who always wanted to own a bar upon retirement and wound up in the slums because it was the only place he could afford the rent on his pension + what he'd saved. So a lot of the people he used to work with would make the extra effort to come down to the slums to drink in his bar, to support his endeavor, and this included the Turks, because Kyle (said middle manager) had been in Building Services and was the only person who didn't give them shit when they accidentally set the Turks' office-cum-lounge on fire again.

So, here's Tifa, who -- upon recovering from treatment for her injuries -- wound up with a job there as bouncer and server because Kyle owed a favor to the doctor who'd treated her (and had been looking for a bouncer/server anyway), and she caught Tseng's eye because she clearly knew the Wutaian fighting arts (my Tseng being an expatriate Wutaian prince who'd exiled himself to Shinra when he saw that Shinra was going to win the war), and eventually Tseng got out of her that she'd been born and raised in Nibelheim and had been there for the Nibelheim incident. At which point Tseng resolves that he will gain her trust enough to someday get her to tell the story, which he realizes is going to take a lot of effort since she clearly distrusts Shinra in general, and he decides that seduction is probably the easiest/most time-efficient way.

And she knows damn well what he's doing, and why, and lets him get away with it, because she's using him the same way he's using her: to get information out of him about Shinra's practices and plans. (At that point, she is not yet the leader of Avalanche -- okay, technically Barret is the leader of Avalanche in the game, but I've always thought Barret runs Avalanche and Tifa runs Barret -- but she is very, very sympathetic to the rebel cause.) And as time goes on, they are both rather startled to realize that, for all they're clearly on opposite sides (and make no bones about the fact; they have both been completely honest with each other from the very beginning), they recognize in each other a certain form of honor and ethics that they respect a great deal.

They are even more startled to realize that what started out as mutual manipulation has bloomed into something very much resembling love. Strong affection, at the very least. And they both walked into this with their eyes wide open, and they both know that it's going to fall apart someday when they hit something that they can't compromise over, but they're both willing to set that aside as a future that may or may not come to pass and enjoy their time together now while they still can.

And then Tseng brings Rufus down to the slums (in disguise of course) and sits them down and says: each of you have half the story. I know you have no motive to cooperate with each other, aside from wanting to know the whole story, but I'm hoping you can set aside ideological differences enough to pool your information and work from there. And it takes a little while, but sooner or later they do, and it becomes very clear that something highly fucked up is going on, and from there it's off to the races.

(Rufus is very baffled by the fact that Tifa is like, the only person in the universe immune to his charm. Tifa is very baffled by the fact that Rufus actually is fairly charming, and nowhere near as much of a monster as she would expect him to be. Tseng is just pleased that nobody's killed each other yet.)

Vague story idea: The Harmonian government continues their policy of covering up things they don't want the public to know about- in this case, an outbreak of disease on a remote island. Sasarai isn't able to prevail against a majority opinion in the council of bishops, but he is able to use his personal authority to investigate the situation and try and provide aid to the afflicted people.

Fandom(s): Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Crowe/Myuria, with cameo appearances by Arumat, Eleyna, Meracle, possibly Sarah, and alien races I haven't figured out yet.
Vague story idea: A space adventure! Kind of basic Star Ocean fare - a planet out there is having problems because of some overdeveloped being running amok and the Morphus, secret Neighborhood Watch of the universe, sends someone out to fix it. But that's more of the setting rather than the focus, which is more about discovery. I wanted to really go into what life for Myuria was life after Lucien's death and all the things that didn't seem to fit right anymore. Crowe gets the chance to explore space with a minimal amount of impending universal doom while still having the chance to explore and help people. I'm still working out the conflict surrounding it all, but it's a project I've been hoping to do for a while.
